About TaafPay

We’re building the trust layer for Ghana’s WhatsApp economy.

Taafpay Limited Company is an Accra-registered fintech (since 2020). Block2Pay is our flagship product: a payment-protection link that lets a seller and a buyer transact on WhatsApp the way they already do — but with funds held in escrow until the buyer confirms delivery.

Why we exist

Mobile Money moved Ghana past cash. It didn’t move us past trust. Every day, someone on WhatsApp sends MoMo to a stranger and hopes the goods arrive. Sometimes they don’t. There’s no recourse — the network considers the transfer final.

Block2Pay is the missing layer: a 60-second escrow, an insurance pool that backstops disputes under GHS 500, and a Ghana Card badge buyers can verify before they pay. Sellers get higher conversion. Buyers get their first guarantee. We get a business with structurally aligned incentives.

What we will not do

  • Hold customer funds on our own balance sheet. Money sits with Flutterwave, our Bank of Ghana–licensed PSP partner.
  • Require buyers to register. The buyer pays on a public link with their MoMo number. Period.
  • Market a blockchain. The internal audit log uses a permissioned ledger; we don't lead with the tech.
  • Build a super app. One product — escrow, dispute, insurance. We will say no to everything else.

How we got here

2020

Taafpay Limited Company registered in Ghana

Founded as a Ghana-registered limited company by Theophilus Adamsako. Original focus: small-merchant collections plumbing for the diaspora-to-Ghana corridor.

2023

First Mobile Money disputes documented

Working with Accra-based vendors, we tracked 1,200+ scam complaints in WhatsApp groups. The pattern was always the same: buyer pays, seller ghosts, MoMo has no recourse.

2025

Block2Pay product spec drafted

Architected the buyer-without-an-account escrow model. Validated with 30 sellers across Accra and Kumasi. Locked the regulatory path: PFTSP under Flutterwave's Bank of Ghana Enhanced PSP umbrella.

2026 Q2

Cohort 1 onboarding (in progress)

First 50 KYC-verified sellers. Closed pilot. Insurance pool funded from day one. Public launch tied to PFTSP licence approval, targeted Q4 2026.

Regulatory posture

Block2Pay operates under Ghana’s Payment Systems and Services Act, 2019 (Act 987). Until our standalone PFTSP licence is approved, transactions are settled by Flutterwave, a Bank of Ghana licensed Enhanced Payment Service Provider (PSP). AML/CFT and KYC checks follow the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044).

Our insurance pool is operated in collaboration with NIC-licensed partners. The pool balance is reconciled daily and published quarterly in our transparency report.
